Chechnya in the context of war on international terrorism

Since the September 11 attacks on New York and Washington, Russian authorities have been trying to portray all Chechens as terrorists and the protracted Russian-Chechen conflict as a part of the worldwide campaign against terrorism. Although all terrorist acts must be strongly condemned, it is unacceptable to misuse the recent events for own political purposes.

Following are articles and statements related to the Russian endeavours to legitimize its warfare in Chechnya on the pretext of conducting an "anti-terrorist" operation.
