Two Russian soldiers accused of killing two people from Komsomolskoye arrested

Ruslan Isayev, North Caucasus - Chechnya’s pro-Moscow prosecution has arrested two Russian soldiers accused of killing two villagers of Komsomolskoye of the Gudermes district, Taus Jabrailov, spokesman for the head of the pro-Moscow Chechen administration said, referring to a statement Chechnya’s military commandant, general Sergey Kizyun, made at today’s meeting of the pro-Moscow Chechen government. The names and ranks of the two detainees have not been disclosed.

According to latest corrected reports, a fifteen-year-old Akhmad Gekhayev and his relative Zalina Mezhidova, 24, mother of four children, were returning from their garden on Oct 27 when a Russian helicopter started to fire against them on the outskirts of the Komsomolskoye village. Then, the helicopter landed and its crew took the bodies of the young people on board. In response several hundred inhabitants of the Komsomolskoye village staged a protest rally, which ended only after Akhmad Kadyrov pledged to find and punish the perpetrators of the crime.

Jabrailov also informed that general Kizyun promised to launch a thorough investigation into the arbitrary shelling of the Goyti village in the Urus-Martan district. As a result of the shelling, which took place eight days ago, two girls were killed, four women wounded and 16 houses destroyed, head of the Urus-Martan district administration, Shirvani Yasayev, said. Yasayev filed a complaint with Chechnya’s pro-Moscow administration and the case has got on the agenda of a special commission set up by Kadyrov.
