Official figures of Beslan victims state more than 330 dead

Ruslan Isayev, North Caucasus - According to a source from the North Ossetian government, the consequences of the terrorist attack in Beslan resulted in the loss of 335 lives. And this figure may grow higher, the source added.

Several hundreds of hospitalized victims are in serious condition. About 200 people, mostly children, are still missing, and relatives have been unable to get any information about them.

However, some Western journalists believe that this officially reported number is actually much lower.

Special gravesites were opened in a cemetery in Beslan and on Monday 170 victims were buried there. The North Ossetian authorities have already allocated money to cover the funeral costs.

Russia declared September 6 and 7 as days of mourning, with flags on all the government buildings in Russia to be lowered at half mast.
