Russian army helicopters strafe environs of OrdzhonikidzevskayaRuslan Isayev, North Caucasus - Last night two Russian military helicopters made an attack on a village in Ingushetia.
Shortly before midnight the helicopters were spotted flying over an outer part of the Ordzhonikidzevskaya village and after circling several times, opened fire onto Zavodskaya Street.
Eyewitnesses said that four missiles were launched and the ensuing explosions injured four people.
One of the injured men, Khamkhoyev, a local resident, died in the hospital this morning; two others remain in critical condition.
The local prosecutor's staff were working at the scene as was a bomb squad of the Ingush Interior Ministry since one of the missiles had not exploded and efforts are now underway to establish its current location.
The Ingush authorities have not as yet commented on the incident.
Local residents expressed strong opposition to this method of fighting the guerrillas, especially since it resulted in injuring innocent people who are not in any way connected to the partisans.
