Entrepreneur kidnapped in Ingushetia by armed assailants

Timur Aliyev, North Caucasus – Early in the morning of April 2, in the Ingush town of Karabulak, armed men kidnapped Isa Khashagulgov from his home.

His wife, Pyatimat, said that several masked men dressed in black uniforms broke into the house, began beating Khashagulgov and then tied him up; she was also tied but locked in an adjoining room. Before dragging him to their car, the assailants ransacked the flat and took away with them all the documents and videotapes they found.

Khashagulgov and his brothers are well known in Ingushetia for their charitable activities. During the kurban-bayram Muslim feast days, they regularly handed out food to Chechen refugees, orphans and needy families.

The local police and Interior Ministry deny any involvement in the abduction. According to records kept by the Interior Ministry, this is the fifth incident of kidnapping in Ingushetia.
