Chechen "secret agents" help federal forcesRuslan Isayev, North Caucasus – An unnamed member of Russian special services operating in Chechnya said testimonies of three Chechen secret informers are enough to make short work of a person. In general, they are local informers that Russian forces count on in Chechnya now.
People wearing a military uniform and a mask whose nodding can solve the fate of their neighbours take part in virtually every ”mopping-up” operation. That happened in Yermolovka, Mesker-Yurt, Chechen-Aul and other settlements. Local people call such informers ”living computers”. Strikingly, their collaboration with Russian forces is unknown even to their closest relatives.
For example, on the basis of the information provided by one of such "secret agents", 33-year-old Movsar Ediyev was beaten and mutilated during the ”mopping-up” operation in Chechen-Aul, near the capital Grozny. Recently he left a hospital in Nazran, Ingushetia, with a cervical vertebra fracture which made his arms and legs totally paralyzed.
