An elderly man was killed in Shali

Ruslan Isayev - Russian soldiers detained, beat and then killed an elderly man in Shali.

Shamsudin Dakayev, about 70 years of age, was recently detained by Russian soldiers in his house in the Shkolnaya street. During the detention he was cruelly beaten. Then the soldiers tied him to an armoured personnel carrier and towed him through Shali to the northern part of the town, where the local military headquarters is located. As a result of the treatment, the elderly man died. Two or three days later Dakayev's relatives managed to buy the dead corpse for 3,000 USD.

Dakayev had been beaten already two months ago, during a large-scale Russian mopping-up operation. Soldiers were looking for his two sons, who were suspected of taking part in Chechen armed resistance during the first war.

A year ago Dakayev's third son was detained by Russian special services. Later on, his corpse was found by local civilians on the outskirts of Shali.
