Protest rally in Argun goes onRuslan Isayev, North Caucasus - In the city of Argun, some 14 kilometers south-east of the Chechen capital Grozny, a protest rally against the cruel behaviour of Russian soldiers has been held for a couple of days.
The protesters call on all Chechen people to participate in the protest and save the nation from extinction. Some of the protesters hold banners with slogans „We will protect our children from Russian terror“, „Russia! Stop the genocide of our nation“, Putin! „Give us back our sons“, etc.
The protesters also demand that the head of the pro-Moscow Chechen administration Akhmad Kadyrov and his assistants step down from their functions as they have proved unable to protect the lives of Chechen civilians.
The protest rally was launched after a mass grave with twenty five dead bodies was discovered a week ago in the north-east part of the town. Seven of the victims were beheaded, but their relatives still managed to identify them. According to the relatives, all of the seven had been detained a year ago and since then their whereabouts had been unknown.
The rest of the killed are victims of various recent mopping-up operations in the Grozny and Shali districts. The protesters are blocking the highway Argun-Grozny, letting through neither civilian nor military vehicles, allegedly to attract attention and call on other people to join the protest.
