Two soldiers and two policemen killed in Grozny

By Ruslan Isayev

GROZNY, Chechnya - Two soldiers were killed and three others seriously injured when a remote controlled mine exploded in the Zavodskoi district of Grozny. This took place last Saturday near the Solionaya Balka settlement during the time military field engineers were walking on the road.

On that same day unknown persons opened fire on a car carrying officers of the Chechen Interior Ministry in Grozny's Leninsky district. Two policemen were killed as a result; the attackers escaped. An investigation into the incident is now underway.

And on Friday, in Grozny, a group of armed men kidnapped Magomed Bashayev, an employee of the National Business Center, and drove off in cars that had police license plates. The reasons for the abduction or where Bashayev was taken are as yet unknown.
