Clashes continue in Chechnya

Ruslan Isayev, North Caucasus – Skirmishes between members of the security forces and Chechen guerrillas are continuing in various regions of Chechnya.

When a suspected fighter was discovered in the village of Noibery in the Gudermes district, there was a brief exchange of gunfire before he blew himself up with a grenade. No one else was injured in the incident.

In Shali, members of the Chechen Interior Ministry arrested four people suspected of being guerrillas. During their capture, one of them tossed out a hand grenade, which injured six policemen.
