Chechen police investigator attacked in Grozny

Ruslan Isayev, North Caucasus - A group of unknown people ambushed a high-ranking Chechen police investigator in Grozny yesterday, causing him serious but not life-threatening injuries, PW's correspondent learned from the Chechen Interior Ministry officials.

The car of Musa Sabirov, the head of the ministry's investigative department, came under fire in the Chechen capital on Friday evening. Several bullets wounded him, but he managed to fire back at the attackers, who later fled the scene.

So far it is not known who actually carried out the attack, but there is no doubt that it was connected to Sabirov's work.
