Putin tries to incline the Americans to his side

12 November, Chechenpress correspondent Kh. Israilov: On the eve of his visit to the USA, Russian President Vladimir Putin met American correspondents. In response to questions from journalists, the Russian president could not fail to mention his favourite topic – slandering Chechens. Commenting on the USA's military actions against Afghanistan, the chief butcher of the Chechen people - Putin, again attempted to link the national liberation struggle of the Chechens with the activities of international terrorists. The Russian president warned American journalists that there are more than 500 mercenaries on Chechen territory, who have links with international terrorists. In concluding the Chechen theme he said that he could provide documentary proof of the fact that there was a group of Chechen fighters in Afghanistan. By making his latest "sensational" report alleging that there are Chechens on Afghan territory, who are fighting on the side of the Taleban, the Russian president was again trying to pass off as fact what he would like to be the case.

As for Chechen fighters - they are not planning to go anywhere as long as their own land is occupied by the Russians. In conclusion, I would like to use the words of CRI [Chechen Republic of Ichkeria] President Aslan Maskhadov, who said that the national liberation struggle of the Chechen people, which has been going on for many centuries, has nothing in common with the methods and forms of international terrorism.
