Ministry of Foreign Affairs protests against Russian attempts to link the Chechen struggle to the terrorist attacks in the U.S.A.URGENT STATEMENT OF THE CHECHEN FOREIGN MINISTER:
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria unambiguously protests against the ongoing Russian attempts to link the just struggle of the Chechen people for its legitimate rights and freedoms to the recent monstrous terrorist attacks in the United States of America.
The Chechen Republic of Ichkeria has always unreservedly condemned all forms and kinds of terrorism. Those killed and injured in the terrorist acts in the U.S. and the dozens of thousands innocent Chechen civilians that have been tortured, raped and murdered by the Russian troops in Chechnya are the victims of the same evil - the denial of the very basic rights and freedoms to individuals, peoples, and nations.
The Chechen Republic of Ichkeria and the Chechen nation are in solidarity with the people of the United States of America. We mourn the perished victims of the terrorist attacks and feel compassion for all of the injured. We, the small and the deprived nation of Chechnya, belive that we are fighting against the same enemy that the American people is confranted today. Killing innocent civilians is a horroble crime, regardles whether its commited agaist the strong or the weak.
Russia, in its ill-hidden attempt to use the woe of the American nation, shared by all the truly freedom-loving peoples all over the world, to justify its genocidal war against the Chechen people, forgets that it has been sponsoring international terrorism by providing political support, military assistance and the nuclear know-how to rogue states that engage in terrorism. Russia also forgets that the Chechen nation’s enemy is not the democratic nation of America, whose principles we admire and whose support and friendship we seek, but Russia which has been implementing its genocidal policy against the Chechen nation for centuries.
