Today the MFA of the ChRI sent a telegram to the White House and the US State Department with the expression of condolences to the American people in connection with the series of barbarous terrorist attacks against the World Trade Center in New York and the building of the Pentagon in Washington.
The telegram, signed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the ChRI Ilyas Akhmadov, reads as follows:
"Please accept our most sincere condolences in connection with the tragedy that happened in your country as the result of the most malicious terrorist attack in the history of mankind.
The Chechens are deeply shaken by the events. This terrorist attack against America is an attack against the entire world, an attack against peace. We experience this as an attack against our little Chechnya.
This terrorist attack against America is a peak of triumph for international terrorists and those states which traditionally support and use the policy of violence for the achievement of their criminal concepts.
And it is difficult not to note the unconcealed rejoicing and the propagandistic speculations of a number of public politicians in Russia, who are happy about any occasions, even such a tragic one, to cynically exploit them for the purpose of justification of their own terrorist campaign in Chechnya.
We Chechens, grieve together with you, America. We pray for the innocent killed. We pray to God that he would give you, America, sufficient force for the just punishment of the barbarians who are behind this terrible crime."
