Announcement: A meeting of sympathy with Chechen hunger strikers in Ingushetia to take place in Prague on July 19

Press release

On Thursday, July 19, 2001 between 14:00–17:00, next to the statue of St Wenceslas in the Wenceslas Square, there will be a public meeting of sympathy with Chechen refugees in Ingushetia who went on a hunger strike a month ago, protesting against the war and calling for peace talks.

Besides the meeting’s organizers, the Organizational Committee SOS Chechnya* and Prague Watchdog, the rally will be joined by Chechen refugees from refugee camps in the Czech Republic. In addition, a chain hunger strike in support of the Chechen protesters will be called at the meeting for those who would like to express their sympathy in that way.

For further information please contact Prague Watchdog (e-mail: mail (at) watchdog.cz) or SOS Chechnya spokeswoman Jana Hradílková (e-mail: jana.hradilkova (at) ecn.cz).
