Newspapers to print codes for compensation beneficiariesTimur Aliyev, North Caucasus – Information about who will receive compensation for their demolished homes and property will be published in local newspapers, announced Eli Isayev, acting Prime Minister of the Moscow-backed Chechen government, at a government session in Grozny on February 13.
Isyaev explained that instead of people’s names, only their identification numbers would be listed as this was the only way of protecting confidentiality.
“In comparison with the previous practice of informing recipients by mail, now each person submitting their application will get an ID number that only he or she will be privy to. By this [method] ... we’ll avoid possible crimes, such as someone recognizing a recipient’s name and then stealing his/her money,” he said.
“From now on people can read their numbers in the paper, head to the bank to receive their payments and need have no fears they will be robbed,” Isayev added. (D/E,T) |
