About Berkat:
The civic association Berkat was set up in the fall of 2001 to carry forward Petra Procházková’s civil-rights and humanitarian activity.
The aim of two current projects of Berkat is to galvanize human solidarity beyond national frontiers and act on it. On the one hand there are countries suffering the consequences of military terror, while on the other, there are countries where people live in a situation of stability, prosperity and peace. Berkat seeks out people on both sides of the divide and tries to link them. It enables old people, women and children surviving in the ruins of the city of Grozny to receive assistance and use it to satisfy their individual needs. Berkat enables individuals in the civilized and developed countries to offer help, and if they so wish, to monitor how their contributions are used.
Berkat’s work is based on the simple principles of “Let’s help ourselves” or “Be a friend to others, not a wolf”.
