Russian MPs, human rights defenders to visit refugee camps in Ingushetia

Timur Aliyev, North Caucasus – A group of deputies to Russia’s State Duma and human rights defenders are going to visit Chechen refugee camps in the territory of Ingushetia, according to a telegram signed by the leader of the parliamentary group of the Union of Right Forces Boris Nemtsov and sent to Ingush President Murat Zyazikov on December 5.

In the telegram, Nemtsov requires immediate termination of any moves aimed at the resettlement of displaced people from refugee camps. The Russian MP also stressed that the resettlement of refugees to the territory of military operations represents a violation of fundamental human rigths and Russia’s international obligations.

On December 6, Russian human rights defender and chairman of the Russian National Committee “For the Termination of War and Establishment of Peace in the Chechen Republic” Lev Ponomaryov already arrived in Ingushetia.
