A Chechen boy was killed near a Russian checkpoint in GroznyRuslan Isayev, North Caucasus - Another tragedy of the war in Chechnya has taken place in Chechen capital Grozny as Russian soldiers killed there a ten-year-old boy near their checkpoint in the Staropromyslovski district.
As the district's residents say, boys often gather near the checkpoint in order to play or swap with soldiers cigarettes for meat stew.
At the moment of the incident children were running around the checkpoint when a sudden shot came, leaving one of the boys on the ground, eyewitnesses claimed.
Short after a group of people, including the relatives of the victim, gathered at the place and took the body to the checkpoint, seeking explanation for the killing. However, the drunken soldiers did not allow the people to approach their checkpoint. Besides, one of the servicemen claimed the boy threw a stone on them and so he deserved the punishment.
Afterwards, the people went to bury the boy. As they say, the worst thing is that atrocities committed by Russian soldiers remain without punishment, so innocent people may turn into live targets of drunken soldiers at any moment. |
