Mass grave near Grozny contains bodies of summarily executed ChechensRussian human rights organisation "Memorial" said that most of the people whose bodies were recently discovered in Grozny suburbs became victims of summary executions.
At a press conference in Moscow on Monday, Memorial staff showed photos of the dead bodies they made in Grozny last week. According to Memorial staff, the bodies bear traces of gunshots and stab and cut wounds. Some of the bodies have their ears cut, some have traces of a gunshot in the head, some have their hands tied.
"The discovered bodies prove war crimes committed by the federal forces," Memorial executive director Tatyana Kasatkina said.
Kasatkina did not claim that such summary executions were carried out with consent of some representatives of the military command or civil authorities located outside the borders of Chechnya.
According to T. Kasatkina, the discovered grave is not the only one.
