By Lecha Sadayev

GROZNY, Chechnya - Police Sergeant Said-Akhmed Abdulkadyrov of the Zavodskoi district police station was shot and killed on Wednesday night in Grozny.

The unidentified assailants were travelling in a vehicle without number plates, and shot the sergeant in the Chechen capital's Leninski district, as he was returning home.

The assailants took the sergeant's pistol and fled the scene of the crime.

According to the republic's Interior Ministry, this year alone has seen more than 100 policemen killed.
