Two Russian soldiers killed in clash with guerrillas in Itum-Kalinsky district

By Ruslan Isayev

CHECHNYA - A skirmish took place today between Russian soldiers and Chechen guerrillas under the command of Dokka Umarov in the mountainous Itum-Kalinsky district in southern Chechnya.

Two soldiers were killed, said a source from the Interior Ministry of the Chechen Republic, but no information is available about guerrilla casualties because they are in hiding.

In another case today, a remote controlled mine exploded on Khankalskaya Street on the outskirts of Grozny when a military convoy passed by.

Three soldiers of the 42th motorized division were seriously wounded and hospitalized at the Russian military base in Khankala.
