Chechen partisans continue laying mines and explosivesTimur Aliyev, North Caucasus - In their fight with federal forces, Chechen partisans keep using mines and explosives.
On April 16, acting on a tip from local policemen, federal forces neutralized five homemade explosives in a building on Krasnych Frontovikov Street in Grozny.
This is the third incident on this street in the past few months. On April 7, a car was blown up there in which five workers of the Nozhai-Yurt district department of the Federal Security Service (FSB) were killed; and earlier that morning engineers defused an explosive on that very same spot.
According to the engineers, the partisans selected this street for their activism primarily because army motorcades often drive by there.
The Chechen Interior Ministry has officially declared that during the past week, five army vehicles were blown up and more than 10 similar would-be incidents had been prevented. (A,E/T) |
