EP delegation visits Ingushetia

Timur Aliyev, North Caucasus - A delegation of the European Parliament visited Ingushetia on May 15 and expressed an interest in Chechen refugees and their repatriation problems.

During a visit to the refugee camp "Bart" near Karabulak, Reino Paasilinna, head of the delegation and member of the Group of the Party of European Socialists, said that it is psychologically impossible for anyone to live here so long.

In discussing their grievances, the refugees said they are not yet ready to return home because their personal security cannot be adequately guaranteed. And they also complained about the situation in Ingushetia, which has recently worsened.

The EP delegation also met with the chairman of the Ingush government Timur Mogushkov, as well as representatives of several humanitarian agencies that are assisting Chechen refugees.
