Ingush President target of assassination attempt

Ruslan Isayev, North Caucasus - An assasination attempt was made today on the life of Ingush President Murat Zyazikov in the vicinity of Nazran.

Around 10 a.m. as the presidential convoy headed toward Zyazikov's office in the capital of Magas, a red Zhiguli car caught up with them and exploded. The blast created a three meter wide bowl-shaped cavity.

The President was not seriously hurt and suffered only minor cuts and burns. However, four security guards were seriously injured and had to be hospitalized.

This is the second time such an endeavor was made to assassinate Zyazikov. Last year, in September, his security guards dismantled an explosive made out of two artillery shells that was found in the sewer on the street where he resides.
