Chechen refugees in Nazran go on hunger strike

Timur Aliyev, North Caucasus – Chechen refugees housed in the temporary accommodation center Denal in the Ingush city of Nazran have gone on a hunger strike to protest the halt of gas deliveries.

According to the strikers, deliveries were suspended several days ago and they are being suspended in other accommodation centers throughout Ingushetia as well - in the Urs camp in Nazran and also in the villages of Altiyevo and Nesterovskaya.

At this point, ten women from the Denal camp are participating in the strike. However, "if the gas deliveries are not be resumed, the whole camp will go on strike," said Malika Turayeva, one of the strikers.
